2025 was a great travel year and a nice year for opening credit cards! I actually didn’t open as many as I usually do but I am happy with the cards I did open!!
I did downgrade a few cards and close a couple Chase Business cards to make room for new cards in 2026.
- Chase Southwest Personal Card. I opened this when the bonus was 100K points to help get the Companion Pass for 2026 and 2027. I am waiting to meet the minimum spend in January as part of my strategy.
- Chase Business Reserve. This was a new card this year for Chase. The bonus was 200,000 after meeting a minimum spend of $30,000 which is high. BUT we were finishing our backyard and had a couple high expenses come up so it made sense for us. The annual fee is $795 but comes with a $300 travel credit and lots of other perks that we have used. I will probably cancel after the first year since we have a couple other high annual fee cards I would rather keep. But 200K points with Chase was worth it this year.
- Chase Business Ink Unlimited. My husband opened this for a new business he started. $0 annual fee!
- Chase Hyatt Credit Card. This had a welcome offer of 5 free nights of Category 1-4 hotels. We used this for a trip to Boston and one night in CA.
- Chase Ink Preferred. 100K points after an $8000 minimum spend and annual fee of $95!
We also earned quite a few points with referrals and just using our Venture X on big yard expenses. It was a slower year for earning but still grateful for all these points and can’t wait for 2026!
