This October we took a bucket list trip to Switzerland and of course are booked on points!! We did some time in Croatia first and then headed to Switzerland from there. You can check out our trip to Croatia HERE!.
We flew from Split, Croatia to Lyon, France. Why? It was only $150 a ticket to Lyon, France instead of $300 to Geneva without a layover in London. We then took an hour-ish train ride from Lyon to Geneva for around $30 a person and it was so fun to see the scenery on the train.
We spent nights in Geneva, Wengen and Zurich. It was a total dream and it was even better with how little we paid. Once you get to Switzerland it is pretty expensive so nice to save money on this end!
Hotels we booked and how:
1-night in Geneva at the Eastwest Hotel, an SLH Hotel for 65,000 Hilton Points. I had opened this card over a year ago and used points from that bonus.
2-nights at the Braunbar Hotel and Spa in Wengen. This a car less village and there are only small hotels. I booked this through the Chase Travel portal which is not always the best use of points but in this case there was a point boost bonus and it was 24,000 points a night. I earned Chase points with this card! This card has 100,000 bonus
2-Nights at the Hyatt Regency Zurich for 20,000 points a night. I transferred these points from a Chase Sapphire card. Right now the sign up bonus is 75,000 points!
Flights Home:
We flew from Zurich to Denver with a layover in Dulles. We flew United on Premium Economy for 40,000 points a person with $66 in taxes which is a STEAL from Switzerland. I had actually booked basic economy and we had to switch flights at the last minute and this flight had Premium Economy at the same price we booked our basic flight. We had some United points built up from my husbands work travel but I had to transfer 30,000 points to United from my Chase Sapphire Card. The cash price was $1800 a ticket..ouch!!
What we spent:
Hotels: $0
Flights and Train to Geneva: $492
Total: $492!!
Never Miss a Daily Deal!
